Match Report

Cash's Export 3     Janssen 3  09/04/08

Janssen lose 4 -5 on penalty shotout

In an exciting cup match Janssen came from 3 1 down to level with 10 mins to go in normal time.

Janssen went one down within the first 3 minutes to a soft goal but were fortunate to go level with a headed own goal from the Cash's Epxort full back.

Janssen were 2 1 down at half time and with a rousing half time talk from Andrew Whittiker came out fighting for the second half.

But this didn't stop a third Cash,s gaol going in.

The last half hour of normal time showed that Janssen still had some fight left in them, with a great team performance and two inspired goals from, no surprises here, Jason O' Shea, brought Janssen back to 3 all.

We could have infact snatched the victory in normal time but this would have been very harsh on a good and sporting Cash's team.

So with the light fading fast the match went to extra time but the stalemate could not be broken, due in no small part to two exceptional saves from Ian.

So to the lottery of the penalty shootout..........................enough said.

Regards

Andre

A brief history

Janssen FC was formed 18 years ago by three Janssen employees,

Liam Butler, Sean Hayes and Ritchie Mullane.

Our original home ground was in Little Island but after the redevelopement of the pitch we were homeless for almost a decade and all our games were either away games or on shared pitches.

Thankfully we now have a home pitch at Knockraha.

Since Janssen joined the Shipping league we have featured in every season.

Janssen FC have travelled to Belgium, Italy, Sweden and France over the years and long may our travels continue.
